In the vibrant spirit of Spring, Enchanted have created a Spring Venue Showcase. This showcase encases a compilation of a select few venues that Enchanted work closely with. It demonstrates the benefits and features of each venue from a direct standpoint of the venue staff themselves.
To start this showcase, we have spoken with wedding coordinator Penny, from the beautiful riverside venue of Landing at Dockside.
What are some of the colours and styles that you see trending recently?
Luxe table linen; say goodbye to standard black and white tablecloths and coordinating napery and say hello to new luxury table linen, as clients are now unleashing their creativity in other surprising ways during the reception. There are boundless options available, from crushed taffeta and sophisticated pintuck fabrics to floral prints and sequins to every colour of the rainbow. Now’s the time to let your imagination run wild.
Adding this unique element to your wedding reception will make more of an impact than you think.
Lighting; never underestimate the effect of lighting with any event. Fairy lights and festoon lights are huge at the moment. They are such wow factors to make your event stand out from the next. The classic chandelier and soft candle effect are still very popular and will never date.
As a riverside venue, what are some of the best photo locations?
We find a lot of groups love getting their photos at Dockside itself! There are numerous areas right on the river where you can get your group photos and bridal party photos without having to drive! Closeby we also have the Kangaroo Point cliffs and Captain Burke Park- both very popular spots.
What would you say is the highlight of your venue?
Located on the Dockside Marina, with picturesque views of the Brisbane River, The Landing offers a magical atmosphere unmatched by any other waterfront venue. With three unique reception spaces, The Landing can cater from 40 to 1500 guests along with an onsite Riverfront Ceremony Lawn. We have an amazing menu and extensive wine list for couples to choose from to compliment the setting and make their event one to remember.
Do you offer any packages for accommodation nearby?
There are 4 hotels within walking distance to the Landing that offer great discounts and incentives for our event guests. They include: Central Dockside Apartments, The Point Hotel, Quest on Story Bridge & Bridgewater Apartments.
Do you have options for ceremonies at the venue?
Overlooking the Brisbane River and Dockside Marina the Ceremony Garden is perfect for an intimate sharing of vows under blue skies & sunshine. Take the hassle out of travel time and make the most of the smooth transition from your I do’s to champagne and canapés on the riverfront terrace. Very important is also the reservation of a Wet Weather back up – we have it all covered!
What is the capacity for your venue?
The Landing at Dockside has 4 event spaces with the following capacities:
Harbour Room seated 280 cocktail 600
River Room seated 140 cocktail 400
Garden Room seated 60 cocktail 100
Entire Venue combined seated 550 cocktail 1500
What are some of your most popular dishes?
We find with sit down dining you can’t beat the fresh seafood options ranging from our prawn & scallop entrée options to the divine barramundi and salmon main selections. We are also finding the increase in supper stations:
An example of brides and grooms breaking away from the typical three-course sit-down meal is the increasing popularity of supper stations. Stations are ideal as they allows guests to create their own platters and pick and choose whatever they’d like to eat during the course of the reception. They can also be incorporated into any event, even if you choose to have it in addition to a two or three-course meal.
The Landing offers supper stations tailored to whatever their clients wish, although the most common station offers guests a variety of cheeses, fresh seasonal fruits, mezze-style platters, and petite sweets. We have also started doing dessert buffets and have a variety of different desserts served alongside the wedding cake, such as mini lemon meringue tarts, Portuguese tarts and chocolate brownies- these stations are often seen as an alternative to a typical wedding cake or lolly buffet for dessert.
Cocktail weddings are often seen as being just a cheaper alternative to traditional weddings and receptions. However, more people are choosing them so they can offer their guests the opportunity to happily mingle among themselves while enjoying delicious canapes in a less formal setting. All of our cocktail wedding packages are jam-packed with different food options, so the guests will never leave hungry, as that is the most common myth we see with cocktail weddings.
Foodie-driven signature menus
From MasterChef to My Kitchen Rules and the rise of celebrity chefs and trendy influential food blogs, brides and grooms are becoming more discerning when it comes to their reception menus and often possess impressive culinary know-how, notes Stefanie Lance, events co-ordinator.
While The Landing offer clients delicious menus designed by their executive chef, the venue also offers clients the opportunity to create a bespoke menu, where they can put their own personal stamp on their wedding. Perhaps you and your partner ate a mouth-watering woodfired pizza on your first date together or he proposed to you while sharing a slice of salted caramel cheesecake – what better to celebrate those wonderful memories than to feature them in your menu at the reception?
If you’re looking at gorgeous riverside venues, that have ingenius food options; beautiful riverside photo locations; and an array of space sizes perfect to suit any event, then this is a serious contender on your venue shortlist.
